Create Your Own Destiny: Dream It, Believe It, Become It

Create your own destiny… What does that even mean, and how do I actually do it?
According to the dictionary, destiny is:
“A predetermined course of events considered as something beyond human power or control.”
I’m not a huge fan of that version of destiny.
I believe we do come into this physical life with some pre-selected experiences, things our soul chose because we believed they would help us grow, expand, and remember who we really are. But that’s about the extent of it.
The rest? That’s up to us.
We live on a planet of free will, which means we can choose at any moment to shift, redirect, or completely rewrite our so-called “destiny.”
Think about it:
You could spend 20+ years working in an office and then decide to become a ballet dancer.
Maybe not a great ballet dancer, but that’s not the point. The point is: you get to choose.
Every single moment is a fresh opportunity to reshape your path. Every moment holds the power to create your enchanted, aligned, joy-filled life.
So… how do you get there?
You begin by getting clear on where you want to go.
Thomas Carlyle, a 19th-century Scottish writer and philosopher, once said:
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
And it’s somewhat true.
If you’re drifting down a river without a rudder, you’re at the mercy of the current. Do you want the river, or other people, to dictate where your life goes?
Or do you want to be the captain of your own ship?
I remember something I learned from Tony Robbins. It was something like:
If you don’t have a plan for your life, you’ll become part of someone else’s plan for theirs. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.
He also pointed out that most people spend more time planning their vacations than they do planning their lives.
That really made me stop to think.
And this isn’t a judgment. Life can feel like a hamster wheel: wake up, work, eat, sleep, repeat. We count down the days to a vacation because it feels like the only time we’re “allowed” to live. Society tells us freedom comes after retirement… 30 years from now.
But what if you don’t want to wait 30 years?
I don’t. I don’t even want to retire, to be honest. I want to create a life that feels good now. I want to create a life where I’m living, not just surviving.
That doesn’t mean every day will be perfect. We live on a planet of duality. Challenges are part of the game. But if I want to navigate those challenges with purpose, I need a plan.
Start With the What, Then Find Your Why
Ask yourself: What do I want to do?
Not how you’ll make it happen. Forget that for now. Just choose. Decide what lights you up. What you long for. What calls to your soul.
And then… ask why you want it.
You might say, “I want to earn $100,000 a year.” Great, but why?
Your why matters just as much as your what.
Your why gives your dream meaning. It gives you fuel. Because without a strong why, it’s way too easy to give up when things get hard.
Here’s one of my whys:
I want to help people, because nothing feels better to me than watching someone awaken to their own power. I want to help those who are just beginning their spiritual journey and don’t know where to start. I want to guide the teachers, the healers, the soul-led entrepreneurs who feel called but stuck. I want to help them break free from the blocks that stand between them and the life they were born to live.
So now I’ve got my what and my why.
What’s next?
Take Inspired Action
Now you listen.
You feel for that next small step, just one, that feels good when you think of it.
Forget the 101 steps ahead.
The Universe will reveal those in divine timing.
Your job is to stay tuned in, trust the nudges, and move with inspired momentum.
Get Out of Your Own Way
You’ve got to get into alignment with your desires.
That means seeing them as possible.
And not just possible, but possible for you.
I deeply believe in the Latin phrase:
Credendo Vides – “By believing, one sees.”
If you don’t believe it, you’re not going to see it. Period.
So How Do You Create Your Own Destiny?
Let’s sum it up:
- Know what you want
- Know why you want it
- Believe it’s possible (and possible for you)
- Love yourself enough to believe you’re worthy of it
- Release the beliefs that say you can’t have it
- Be willing to pivot when something isn’t working
- Stay flexible and open to new directions
- Tune into your inner guidance. It knows the way
You’ve already been guided to this moment.
You’ve already overcome so much.
This is the moment you get to decide.
This is the moment you can choose to create your own destiny. 💖💖💖
